For years, my wife and I have lamented that we could not find a good Thai restaurant in San Mateo. Over the last decade, I would guess that we tried at least 4-5 different restaurants but without satisfaction. This ended when we ate at Bangkok Patio.
In the last year, we have probably eaten at Bangkok Patio at least 8 times. It is -- without question -- the BEST Thai food in the San Mateo area.
I love, love, love the food here! Our favorites are the garlic pepper pork, papaya salad, pineapple prawn curry, and the pad thai. -

Not sure what happened but the food quality of this place has decreased.
The food is seasoned poorly and is too sour for our liking. It also took a very long time (~15-20mins) for food to come out of the kitchen.
The only good thing about the restaurant is the decor and the friendly staff. They were accommodating enough to cancel the order on our request when it was not made correctly.
Will likely not be coming back unless there is a change in food quality! -

Pretty expensive for mediocre Thai food (mind you that appetizers cost $10+). The decorations were cute and girly. However, there was a bar + girly decorations + spa music contributed to a very awkward dining environment. Inconveniently right next to a shell, right off a Main Street, so it was difficult to find parking.
We ordered basil chicken, drunken noodles, and crab lagoon. Asked for lemons and they gave us lime. The service was good but I feel like the flavors were a little heavy and overpowering. I like Thai food but this place didn't quite hit the mark for me. -

This is my favorite Thai place I have been to. I have liked everything that I have tried. My favorites are defiantly the Panang curry and the corn cakes. The panang is so rich in flavor, I could eat it forever. The cashew chicken and the garlic lamb are also very good.

Came by for dinner the other night and it was a mediocre experience. Street parking was available and we were seated upon arrival.
Started off with the Tom Yum soup and it had plenty of shrimp. Quite flavorful too!
The fish cakes were ok. Flavor was decent...nothing special...
The Pad Thai Crab was pretty decent. Plenty of crab and nicely stir-fried.
The basil seafood was best hot and wasn't as tasty when it got cold. There were way too many bamboo shoots in this dish though... There were a couple mussels, fried fish filet, scallops and shrimps.
~$40/head after tax and gratuity for dinner.
